ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR SERVICES

At Codar Ltd in Sheffield, our services include LEV testing to ensure compliance with industry standards and the safe operation of your dust filtration units. Whether you're looking for installation, maintenance, or testing of filtration equipment, we’ve got you covered. Our dust collectors help remove harmful dust or fumes from the air in workplaces. During LEV tests, our experts measure how much air is being sucked into the dust collector to make sure it captures dust safely. If the system is not working correctly, it can let dangerous particles stay in the air, which is bad for workers' health. With years of experience in dust control, we offer reliable and efficient services across the UK. Take a look at some of the frequently asked questions about our work. Get in touch with us today to get a quote or to schedule a consultation.

  • What is LEV?
LEV stands for Local Exhaust Ventilation. LEV why do we need it; Dust and fumes are created across numerous industries and can cause various health problems such as asthma and lung disease. LEV’s help to control the dust and fumes created and capture the dust particles and fume at source, removing the contaminated particles from escaping to the working area. The contaminated air passes through duct work to a filtration system which cleans the dirty air which minimises the exposure to the harmful dust and fumes.
  • What is a LEV test?
LEV testing is the testing of the dust and fume extraction system to ensure that it is working correctly to the required standards and is compliant with the Control of substances hazardous to Health regulations (COSHH). LEV testing is a mandatory test regulated by the HSE which is applied to any equipment that is used to remove dust or fumes from the working environment failure to comply could result in prosecution and fines from the HSE.
  • Who can carry out the LEV tests?
LEV tests can be carried out by a competent person with a combination of knowledge, skills and experience. Some people with lots of experience, but with no formal qualifications, may be competent. Get in touch with us to learn more about our services.
  • How often should a LEV test be carried out?
A thorough examination and test at least every 14 months (unless otherwise stipulated) different processes require a more frequent test and inspection. The employer needs to know whether or not an examination has been done or when it's due, and so do supervisors and operators (see hsg258). The table below shows the legal maximum interval for a thorough examination and test of plant used in certain processes (COSHH Schedule 4).
  • Will I get a written report?
As part of the test, you will receive a written report that must be kept for a period of 5 years and forms part of the COSHH file to comply with the HSE guidelines. For more FAQ’s please see www.hse.gov.uk/lev/faqs.htm
