Testing & Inspection. - Regulation 9
COSHH requires
that all control measures, including LEV plant:
- Be thoroughly
examined and tested at least once every 14 months. This period
is shorter for some substances and processes.
- Be maintained
in an efficient working order and in good repair
Why is
COSHH necessary?
COSHH is a
regulation whose main principle is to protect employees, employers
and visitors from risks to health which may rise from the exposure
to substances which can be hazardous to health. Local Exhaust
Ventilation (LEV) testing focuses on substances which could be
inhaled and is used to determine the effectiveness of equipment
designed to "draw" substances away from the working
environment.
